A successful drone shot on a film set depends entirely on the expertise at the controls. With over 16 years of experience on high-end film sets globally, we speak the language of directors and DoPs. We deliver footage that elevates your production's vision.
Experience on Set
Working on a professional set requires an understanding of lighting, composition, lens choice, and set etiquette. Our team integrates smoothly into your workflow, communicates directly, and works quickly and efficiently between takes.
Solo vs. Dual-Operator Workflows
Depending on the shot list and drone selection, we fly in two configurations:
- Solo-operator: The pilot controls the drone and operates the camera simultaneously. This is an efficient, highly mobile workflow, ideal for FPV shots and compact crews.
- Dual-operator: The pilot focuses on the flight path and safety, while the camera operator manages pan, tilt, and focus. This is the standard for complex cinema shoots with the Inspire 3.
EU Specific Company License
Drone Department holds a full EASA Specific license (registration number: NLDoyhg6yl91zgtj). This allows us to operate legally where others cannot:
- Flying within 25 meters of crew and actors on secured sets
- Flying in CTR zones of airports (including Schiphol)
- Night flights for atmospheric evening shots
We handle all flight requests, permits, and coordination with air traffic control.
